O.K. Well, the anniversary is near. I would like to add another ten things most people didn't know about her.
1. Her chocolate chip cookies weren't the greatest. Too much flour; they were hard as a rock. But her cold noodle salads were the greatest.
2. She told me Bill never talked a word to her about the war. Never. He said it was between him and his war buddies. She let it be.
3. I broke a really nice lamp once. She

O.K. Well, the anniversary is near. I would like to add another ten things most people didn't know about her.
1. Her chocolate chip cookies weren't the greatest. Too much flour; they were hard as a rock. But her cold noodle salads were the greatest.
2. She told me Bill never talked a word to her about the war. Never. He said it was between him and his war buddies. She let it be.
3. I broke a really nice lamp once. She had my brother grab a container to put the glass in. I hid under my 'blankie'. and instead of telling me it was o.k., she fretted over the broken glass because us kids might get glass in our feet.
4. 10 little Indians. A book we read many nights. It's about a boy who gets to choose a toy every night to bring to bed with him. By the tenth night, there is no room for him in the bed and he must give up his toys.
5. I painted her offwhite ceiling. She wanted it peach. I got peach. When it dried, it was a terrible purple/grey color. Thank God she wasn't good with eyesight.
6. She sure did hating having her picture taken. But everyone who has photos of her covet them in frames.
7.She was upset one day. Her check engine light came on and she brought her car to a dealership. They charged her 75 dollars because her gas cap wasn't secured tight enough. They treated her like a dumb old woman. - Her words, not mine.
8. Every Christmas I decorated the tree her son got for her. Every year with each ornament she'd give me the history behind it. Each story was different because there was so much to tell. Each piece had a memory from one of her two sons or her mother.
9. She just wanted people to visit. She wanted simple things. She could name every bird in the upper midwest.
10. She wants us to be o.k. That is all she ever wished and wanted. That's complicated to live up to. But to her, it was always simple.

"Grandma, is this flower ok to plant here?"
"Uh,...more towards the corner."
"Here?"
"Yeah, I guess that's ok."

....we go inside.

"Grandma, I'm done dusting."
"ok."
"Do you want me to do the dishes? I don't care."
"No. Sit down and visit with me."

I just ran into a family friend and he cried when he saw me. I still haven't cried. If I start I'm afraid I won't stop. I was a zombie at her funeral. I grieve years after who I lose in my life. She was into John Edward and Sylvia Browne. The two of us witnessed signs after Bill died. After his funeral; days later, we walked into her house and her digital clock didn't show numbers. It said Goodbye......which

I just ran into a family friend and he cried when he saw me. I still haven't cried. If I start I'm afraid I won't stop. I was a zombie at her funeral. I grieve years after who I lose in my life. It said Goodbye......which is what it would say if it were low on battery. But we both looked at eachother in silence. Many other things happened. We talked about spirituality at length. I still haven't grieved for her and I haven't had a dream with her in it or any signs. But I blame myself. I probably have had dozens of signs. I just haven't realized it yet. The first tear has not fallen. I can't let it. I will drown.

3.She was an old woman to me. But I couldn't talk to my parents or my teenaged friends. She became my best friend. She was more of a friend in the year 2000+ than any friend I grew up with and tried to relate to. We didn't always understand eachother...but we both listened.
4. At the age of 4, she colored with me. At 6 and 7, we played card games and played in the sandbox. At 10, we talked/ In my teen years we discussed our family and visited Bill in the nursing home We grew together as scared woman.
5.She loved deer,birds, flowers, ice cream (cherry-nut), and coffee.
6.We talked about our families in depth past any other family member. But We didn't let anyone else know we were talking about them
7. She is a saint....yes.....but once, we had just gotten fast food and I was driving her car and she flung all of her wrappers out the window. She looked at me and said, "What? I didn't need that anymore." (refering to napkins).
8. She forgave me of my sins. She had strong opinions of people. but forgave me
9. She was embarrassed easily but more prone to tell the truth bluntly and lovingly.
10. Her last words to me were, "Do good." Sounds simple. But it meant alot.

We are so sorry for your loss. You are in our prayers and thoughts.

Dearest Family of Beautiful Dolly - May you find deep solace in the love of all whose life Dolly touched; She will be dearly missed on this earth, but shall live forever in our hearts, minds and souls. Blake and I are ever so appreciative to have known Dolly; a truly beautiful friend inside and out. As Dolly embarks on her new angelic adventure along with family and friends in Heaven, may we each continue to share her kind, thoughtful legacy with the people we meet in our own lives.
