Betty Lou (Walley) McCarthy – a life-long Mobile resident, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013; she was born December 18, 1933. Preceding her in death was her husband of 57 years, John James "Bubba" McCarthy; her parents Wesley G. Walley, Sr., and Bessie Walley; brothers Joseph T. Walley, Marion L. Walley, and George W. Walley, Jr.; grandchildren Michael G. McCarthy, Jr. and Rebecca L. Byrd; and beloved brothers-in-law, sisters –in-law, nieces and nephews. She attended both Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, Marcia E. McCarthy, Michael G. McCarthy, Sr. (Susan), Jan M. Byrd, Sharon M. Andrews (Dale), and Patricia M. Lyle (Paul); her grandchildren Jennifer D. Bolton (Bobby), Roger G. Andrews (Nicole), Jonathan J. McCarthy (Mechelle), Robert L. House (Layne), J. Joseph Byrd (Heather), Michael A. House, Matthew T. House (Kaylee), and Tyler L. Andrews; her great-grandchildren Troy R. Andrews, Trevor G. Andrews, Alexis C. Bolton, Anna G. McCarthy, Chandler B. House, Cade A. House, Zemmie T. House, Masyn M. Rogers and Madisyn R. Byrd. She is also survived by her brothers Reverend Irving G. Walley (Jeannie), and Bill M. Walley (Kris); sisters-in-law Mary D. "Sister: Lindamood, and Evelyn M. "Ebbie" McCarthy. She is also survived by her many devoted cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Betty's greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family, preparing meals that brought everyone together, and relaxing at home on Fowl River. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 15, at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy. from 6 – 8PM. The Rosary will be prayed at 7PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 16, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1621 Boykin Blvd. at 11AM.
