Carrie Susan Town Brennan died of cancer on August 17. She was born in Rocky River, Ohio and grew up in Charlotte, NC.
Service: A memorial service will be held in the Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel, Colleyville, TX. Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Community Hospice of Texas, a non-profit organization that cared for and comforted Carrie. We are grateful and humbled by their compassion and dedication. Other donations can be made to Colon Cancer research institutions or organizations.
Carrie was always willing to take on challenges in varying fields of interest. She swam competitively in her youth in the Charlotte area, and was the principal clarinetist in the Youth Symphony of the Carolina's in the mid 1980's. After graduating Cum Laude from Elon University in NC she worked for the Federal Government in Philadelphia, PA. Carrie found her life's work to be in insurance claims. She successfully navigated the insurance halls with Nationwide Insurance and then, Liberty Mutual Commercial Markets Insurance.
Her marriage to Dan Brennan was her greatest joy and pride during her life. You live on in the hearts of everyone you have touched. Death ends a life, not a relationship.
Carrie also loved the diverse and fun group of people she worked with at the Middle Market Claims Department of Liberty Mutual Insurance. She spent 18 years in the claims industry in NC and Texas. Her unique blend of humor touched those around her.
Carrie was dedicated to her dog "The Bruce" who brought so much play and happiness to her life. Her favorite NFL football team, the Carolina Panthers, she wishes much luck and hope they find that combination of offense and defense, which will finally get them to that elusive Super Bowl victory.
Carrie fondly remembered the long nights playing cards and laughing with her family and friends. She warmheartedly remembers learning card playing at the hand of her maternal grandmother, Frances Houtz, formerly of Hendersonville, NC.
Carrie would like to thank the dedicated folks at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine TX. Carrie also appreciated the kind and caring people at Texas Oncology in Grapevine and Bedford, TX. Their tenacity and warmth through the curtain of cancer is much to be admired.
Survivors: She is survived by her husband Dan, her parents, Bill and Barbara Town of Charlotte, NC; her sister, Jennie Kirby , niece, Katie Kirby of Tega Cay, SC, Brothers; Scott and wife Patti Town of Jacksonville, FL, Greg and wife Angie Town of Gastonia, NC, in-laws, Chuck and Mary Brennan, brother and sister-in-laws; Jeff and Sheila Gaeckle and children Daniel, Brennan, Anna and Erin, Joe Brennan and son Jay, Randy and Anita Riessen, Steven and Eileen Eddings and son Charlie, all of Charlotte, NC and surrounding area, Patrick Brennan and David Johnson of Raleigh, NC.
