Geneva M. (Jordan) Ward, age 70, resident of Mansfield died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Hospice House of Ashland.
Born June 23, 1942 in Louisa, KY to David Sr. and Rebecca (Diamond) Jordan she moved to the Shelby area in 1948. She resided in Mansfield from 1986 to 1994, Ashland from 1994 to 2005, moving back to Mansfield in 2005.
A 1960 graduate of Plymouth High School, she graduated from North Central Technical College in 1993 with a degree in Hotel/Motel Management. She was employed as an apartment manager for Wurster Properties from 1994 until retiring in 2005 due to poor health.
Geneva enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading Amish books, and camping with her husband, Charlie. A foster parent for several years, Geneva loved caring for her foster children.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Ward, whom she wed July 16, 1982; two "adopted daughters" Renee (Bill) Deaner of Florida and Shelby Rock of Lexington; two brothers, Richard (Barb) Jordan of Mansfield and David (Nila) Jordan of Marble Head; her sister, Dovie (Bill) Moore of Mansfield; two stepchildren, Christina and Ryan Ward, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clayton Jordan; aunt, Jen Douglas-Smedley and sister-in-law, Jean Jordan.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday January 14, 2013 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Pastor Eddie Douglas and Pastor Doug Tackett will officiate with interment held in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-6 P.M.
