Inez Smith was born January 6, 1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to the parentage of Lena Mattie Bonner and Jacob Smith.

Inez grew up in Dallas, Texas, and was a 1939 Graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. At an early age Inez was reared up in Church of God in Christ faith. She united with Pages Temple COGIC, under the Leadership of the late Bishop R. M. Jackson.

In later years she became of member of Deliverance Chapel COGIC under the Great Leadership of the Late Bishop Elijah Kelley, Sr. She remained an active member, until failing health. Inez worked diligently to serve her Pastor and Church. Over the years she was over the Usher Board, the Pastor Aide and the Mother of the Church.

Inez worked over fifty years as a domestic worker, in private homes. She was a bright and morning star and spent her life serving God. She had a close relationship with her family.

Inez was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Mattie Bonner Jones; grandson, Nathan D. Hayes; three sons-in-law, Norman Hayes, Jr., Michael Busby and Isaiah Hollins.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her four daughters, Lena (Janie) Hayes, Dorothy Hollins, Virginia Smith and Linda Busby, all of Dallas, Texas; two granddaughters, LaWanda Hayes and Barbara Hayes; four grandsons, Norman Hayes, Kelvin Hayes, Christopher Busby (Jeannea) and Nicholas Busby; two great granddaughters; three great-great-grandsons; sister-in-law, Vernell Shorter; niece, Linda Shanklin; goddaughters, Darlene Dehorney and Patricia Busby; godson, Dennis Busby; and a host of other family members and friends.
