Mrs. Karen Cowart Redding, 53, of Adel, passed away Saturday August 11, 2012 at her home. She was born January 27, 1959, in Adel to the late Bennie "Ben" Howard Cowart and Vivian Laura McClellan Cowart. She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, served as the service coordinator fo "Babies Can't Wait" and has lived in Cook County all of her life.
Mrs. Redding is survived by her husband, Michael L. "Mike" Redding of Adel; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Matt and Kala Bennett, and Mitchell Bennett, all of Adel; one daughter, Emily Bennett of Adel; one step-son, JonMichael Redding of Hahira; two grandchildren, Emmylou Bennett and Maggie Hathcock, both of Adel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Betty Redding of Valdosta; and a brother-in-law, Ken Redding of Valdosta. A host of aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Vivian M. Cowart, and a sister, Vickie L. Cowart.
A funeral service for Mrs. Redding will take place Tuesday August 14, 2012 at 2 pm at Antioch United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Dickerson and Elder Clark Lee officiating; Kala Bennett will read a special selection. Steven Bennett, Chad Bennett, Clay Shierling, Rene' Cowart, Todd Lanier, and Larry Lancaster will serve as pallbearers. Eric and Kim Rountree will sing "Beulah Land," "Amazing Grace," and "Go Rest High on that Mountain" at the service; "Angel Band" and other selections will be sung at the graveside by the Primitive Baptist Church Singers. Interment will follow at Empire Church Cemetery in Lanier County. The family will receive friends Monday evening, August 13, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel.
